Kenex have been producing the finest precision scales for over a quarter of a century. They employ the most cutting edge technology, the highest grade materials, and razor sharp precision. Their name should inspire confidence and you can expect nothing less than the highest quality.

We stock a huge range of Kenex high quality digital scales in a variety of sizes and sensitivities. You can be sure that your herb is accurately and quickly measured reliably. Portable, battery-powered Kenex scales are a convenient and useful addition to any smoking kit. The Matrix Digital scales are fantastic clam shell design portable scale, and the Kenex Ovini Digital Scales for larger loads

Some of the earliest weighing scales can be traced all the way back to the 1700s where the very first designs are credited to a man called Richard Salter, an early scale maker. These early scales relied on a system of springs to work and were often used in the early postal service to weigh packages and letters, allowing post service staff to work more quickly than they could with old-fashioned balance scales as they could ascertain the weights nearly instantly.

A spring scale judges a package’s weight by measuring the amount of distance that the spring is compacted under a certain load. This compression is transferred over to a component that is called a balance which contrasts the torque on the arm as a result of the sample weight to the torque exerted on the arm due to a standardized weight using a type of lever. This convoluted routine works because spring scales measure the tension force of constraint acting on an load. Balance scale have to be carefully calibrated so that the load put upon them will act in the same way it would as if it were put on any other platform. This type of scale can run into two types of issue; the load measured can actually vary with the strength of the local gravitational force. Thought this is something you shouldn’t really worry about with your measurements. The second error can be caused by the changing elasticity of the spring due to the environmental ambient temperature. Typically, you probably have no reason to worry about this when you’re measuring at home.

Clearly the balance scale is a very complicated and delicate contraption. In the 1940s this all changed when the first electronic digital scales were invented. They contained compact diodes that converts pressure into an electric signal. Thanks to this the weight could be measured without the need for a bizarre and complicated internal mechanism that can easily be damaged during transport, or even by the local gravity in your area! Today electronic scales are incredibly accurate and widely affordable.

Kenex scales have perfected the design of the portable digital scale. Precisely calibrated, sturdy and reliable Kenex scales are fantastic way to accurately measure your material.

Accurately measuring the precise weight of your smoking material with a Kenex scale can be vitally important as many varieties have a wildly varying array of densities and potency. For example, an even amount of dry herb and dab concentrate will have a massive difference in strength; the dabbing material will be much much higher in active ingredients than the herb.
