Beaker Bongs vs. Percolator Bongs What’s The Difference?

If you’re a relatively seasoned smoker you probably know the answer to this question already. But for all the noobs out there, we have to drop some knowledge on you right now. Grab a raincoat, because we are raining cold hard facts up in here.

If you’re a regular patron of our site, you will already know that we stock large quantities of both Beaker and Percolator Bongs. You may find yourself torn between which to choose. As always, we here at Everybodydoesit believe that educating you before purchase is the ultimate path to your satisfaction. So let’s get started....

Beaker Bongs

The Beaker Bong is seen as the standard, classic, timeless bong. Beaker Bongs are like The Beatles of the Bong community, they never go out of style!

In a nutshell, a beaker bong is a much larger and bulkier bong with a large base. This is important for a number of reasons. The larger, bulkier shape allows the Beaker Bong to hold a bigger reservoir of water than most bongs causing you to get a much cleaner hit.

Here’s the math:

More Water = Higher Level of Filtration.

The wider base of a beaker bong allows the equipment to balance easily on a flat surface. Coupled with the larger volume of water, this allows the bong to become anchored to the surface. This all makes the Beaker Bong harder to knock over, meaning it’s (almost) completely idiot proof!

Percolator Bongs

The percolator bong is an engineer’s dream. Where the Beaker Bong’s shining characteristic is its physical stability, the Percolator Bong prides itself on one thing: purity.

The Percolator Bong has an added filtration system to ensure that you are getting the cleanest, most pure hit every time. Percolator Bongs come in such a vast variety of different styles and many inventive formats but all pride themselves on the unique filtration system incorporated into their design.

For all you science nerds out there here’s the technical breakdown of a Percolator Bong. Smoke and water are forced through the percolator by the negative pressure from the user inhaling on the bong. Firstly, this accelerates heat transfer – that is, the hot smoke is rapidly cooled by the bubbling, aerated water. Secondly, this action breaks up the smoke into finer particles, increasing the surface area. Again, this cools the smoke as well as filtering out some of the harmful carcinogens.

A standard bong will merely pull the smoke through the water only once. Here’s what makes the Percolator Bong so great; the intricate design pulls the smoke through the water multiple times. This results in a much smoother, cleaner hit as the smoke has been cooled several times.

By now I’m sure you’ve made a decision on which is your favourite. So here’s a list of some of our favourite Percolator Bongs, and be sure to check out our Beaker Bongs too. If you haven’t read our blog yet on Top 7 Diffuser Beaker Bongs I suggest you check it out, like, right now!
