For over a decade now, the coffeeshop El Guapo has been situated in a quiet narrow street between Niewendijk and Niewezijds Voorburgwal (on the same street as Homegrown Fantaseeds), called Nieuwe Nieuwstraat. This area is a "DJ Haven" with a DJ Café (with live DJs at night) and 3 record shops in the same street. You will find DJ's from all over the world converging on this street giving it an interesting "young Amsterdam vibe". As you would expect in this area, El Guapo has an extensive selection of music for your enjoyment.
El Gaupo has the look of a brightly colored cave. Formed and plastered walls are painted in primary and pastel colors over white creating a very sunny feeling. It is a great place to hang out on a cloudy Dutch day.
On one side are two bars, one for ordering your smoke and the other for drinks. On the smoke menu you will find 16 varieties of grass and 13 varieties of hash. Crystal Hash seems to be the favorite hash and Power Planx the favorite grass. Space tea and cake are also available. During the Cup El Guapo will be offering Free Smoking Cocktails. The clientele is international and the atmosphere is cheery. The tourists that discover this shop are a happy lot for sure.
